Treponema pallidum antikor testi, frengiye neden olan Treponema pallidum bakterisine karşı antikorları tespit etmek için yapılan bir kan testidir. Bu test, frengi için yapılan bir tarama testinin pozitif çıkması durumunda gerçek bir enfeksiyon olduğunu doğrulamak için kullanılır.
Treponema pallidum antikoru enfeksiyondan 4-6 hafta sonra reaktif hale gelir. Treponemal olmayan testlerin aksine, FTA-ABS testi reaktif hale geldiğinde, uzun yıllar boyunca reaktif kalacaktır.
Description
Syphilis is a chronic infectious disease caused by treponema pallidum, which is mainly spread through direct sexual contact. TP can be also passed to the next generation via the placenta, which leads to stillbirth, premature delivery, and infants with congenital syphilis. The incubation period of TP is 9-90 days with an average of 3 weeks. Morbidity normally occurs 2-4 weeks upon infection of syphilis. In normal infection, TP-IgM can be detected first, which disappears upon effective treatment. TP-IgG can be detected upon occurrence of IgM, which may exist for relatively long time. Detection of TP infection is still one of the bases of clinical diagnosis by now. Detection of TP antibody is of great significance to prevention of TP transmission and treatment of TP antibody.
